Just came across a little good news regarding the Marine Terminal site. We will officially be able to vote for weather or not we want the stadium built at the site on election day, November 4th. Said City Attorney Mike Aguirre, “If the voters approve it, it probably has to go forward. Whatever the voters decide to do, I will do.”

In denying the Port of San Diego’s request for an immediate stay, the Fourth District Court of Appeal Wednesday removed the last obstacle to a public vote on a massive waterfront makeover at the 10th Avenue Marine Terminal.

What that means depends on where you sit.

The Chargers say they have a problem: Qualcomm Stadium is antiquated. Sorry. The Chargers’ problem is much broader and deeper than that. The Chargers have a problem with San Diego. Period. It’s not big enough or rich enough to satisfy the financial ambitions of the ownership…

The Chargers are gearing up for a new season that could – but probably won’t – be their last at Qualcomm Stadium.

After it ends, the team will be eligible to pack up its footballs, uniforms and cleats and move to a city that is willing to provide them with a new stadium. All they have to do is give the city written notice, then fork over a termination fee of $56.2 million.

But the Chargers won’t, said Mark Fabiani, the team’s general counsel…

Things aren’t looking too rosy for the Chargers chances of staying in San Diego. The team has the talent to win a Super Bowl tomorrow, yet they struggled to sell out playoff tickets to last year’s game. They need a larger market like LA to maximize the value inherent in this franchise.
