Here is a flyer that was handed out on opening day. Print it out and let your friends know!
The UT has came out against Prop B so Tom sent them a quick note.
Jack Murphy would be ashamed that you guys are against Prop B. This could be the last gasp to keep the Chargers in San Diego. The Chargers are a community asset that binds thousands of San Diegans together every weekend. Regardless of status, income, race, gender, or creed, we all come together to enjoy football. Others can complain that the rich will continue to get richer by passing this proposal but doesn’t that always happen? What it comes down to is do you want a San Diego institution to disappear? The rich will always get richer so we cannot stop that, but we can stop the Chargers from leaving. Other cities (Philly, NY, etc) would NEVER let their NFL team leave and we need to show them that we are on their level. Shame on you UT. Shame on the thousands of San Diegans who are trying to get rid of an institution that rivals the Zoo and beaches in popularity. I’m truly upset that our hometown newspaper has backslapped the Chargers like this.
Nick Canepa wrote back and wanted to have a talk with me over the hone about BACSS and www.newstadium4sd.com. We were handing out flyers on MNF and during the Carolina game. People seemed eager to help rally for Prop B. Fabiani is also going to set me up with the organizers so I will keep you guys updated. The most powerful thing you guys can do is promote the website and promote prop B around the community. Word of mouth is very powerful.
Here’s and article written yesterday, by Tim Sullivan from UT regarding the bayfront area.
“If the voters approve it, it probably has to go forward,” City Attorney Mike Aguirre said. “Whatever the voters decide to do, I will do.”
Mark Fabiani says:
“We’re obviously highly interested in the process leading up to the vote,” said Chargers spokesman Mark Fabiani. “But our focus remains on Chula Vista and will remain in Chula Vista.”
This is huge. We need to vote this through to even think we have a shot at building a new stadium if Chula Vista doesnt work out.
Just came across a little good news regarding the Marine Terminal site. We will officially be able to vote for weather or not we want the stadium built at the site on election day, November 4th. Said City Attorney Mike Aguirre, “If the voters approve it, it probably has to go forward. Whatever the voters decide to do, I will do.”
In denying the Port of San Diego’s request for an immediate stay, the Fourth District Court of Appeal Wednesday removed the last obstacle to a public vote on a massive waterfront makeover at the 10th Avenue Marine Terminal.
What that means depends on where you sit.
Read the rest of this article here. This is still a long stretch, but don’t forget to vote on November 4th!
